EWB-Philadelphia is always looking to grow its membership. We are looking for engineering as well as non-engineering professional disciplines for our international and local outreach projects. Our work requires skill sets from all walks of life whether it be in the fields of business, marketing, fundraising, health, education, journalism, language arts, graphic design, cultural studies, etc. If you want to help make an impact, we welcome you with open arms.
There are several ways to get started and involved with EWB-Philadelphia:
Attend a Chapter Meeting
The professional chapter holds bimonthly General Body Meetings, typically the first Thursday of the month, on the Drexel University campus. On those alternative months between chapter meetings, we schedule a chapter happy hours on a for some fun and social networking (visit the EWB-Philly calendar). Our GBM meetings are open to everyone, no membership required! Here you can get a general overview on our chapter, projects, and local activities; you can meet the Executive Officers and often get to listen in on a featured presenter, be part of a discussion topic, or watch an educational webinar (features vary monthly). Additionally, we have monthly project meetings during the weeknight, and schedule local outreach events in Philadelphia on Saturdays
Become an Official EWB Member
It’s easy. Just visit the national chapter’s website (EWB-USA) and fill out the membership form (or click the Join button below). Make sure “Philadelphia Professionals Chapter” is selected as the specified chapter. You do not need to be an official member to attend chapter and project meetings, or participate in local activities. However, you must be a member of Engineers Without Borders to travel for international projects, have access to online technical training webinars, and get discount rates for workshops and conferences. EWB-USA membership is $100 for professionals ($60 for current ASCE members, as a benefit of their working partnership).
Become a Professional Mentor to an EWB Student Chapter
EWB university chapters always need at least one (1) technical advisor to travel on their trips, in addition to general technical mentoring and assistance in their design. EWB-PHILLY hopes to help in providing this resource for the student members, to facilitate progress in their projects, develop technical skills and experience for these future professionals.
